Get involved & grow with us
Building a resilient food system takes a community. Whether you want to roll up your sleeves, become a member or make a financial contribution, there is a place for you at the Community Farmland Trust.
Support the Trust
It takes a community to build a resilient food system. We have set a minimum fundraising goal of $1M by the end of 2026 to successfully initiate our operations.
We started our application for official charitable status. The application process can take up to a year; we are anticipating official charitable status by 2027.
Please note: initial donations will not be considered charitable for tax purposes at this time.
Donate your land
A message to retiring farmers
Retiring farmers have more options than they may realize — and Community Farmland Trust is here to walk through every one of them with you.
A conservation covenant can permanently protect your land from development while you retain ownership.
A charitable land donation can provide meaningful tax relief while directing your property toward a purpose you believe in.
Thoughtful legacy planning can ensure your land stays productive, affordable, and true to your values for generations to come.
Whatever your situation, we'll help you find the path that works best for you, your family, and the land you've devoted your life to.
The trust will offer:
Peace of mind that your land will never be sold for development.
A say in who farms the land and what kind of agriculture it supports.
Support navigating family conversations about the farm’s future.
A lasting legacy — your land continuing to feed your community for generations to come.
Other ways to give
Beyond cash donations, you can support our mission through:
Farmland donations
Conservative covenants
Bequests
Planned gifts

Membership in CFT is open to any resident of central and northern British Columbia who wants to help protect farmland and build long-term food security for future generations.
We offer three membership levels:
Supporter ($25/year), which keeps you informed and connected to our work

Volunteer your expertise
We are looking for passionate individuals to help us build the Trust from the ground up. Currently, we are seeking:
Community representatives: Help us draft membership criteria, develop policies and organize our first general meeting.
Agriculture experts: Help evaluate the suitability of land for diversifying crops, assess resilience to climate change and oversee research projects.
Other volunteer tasks: Right now, we need volunteers to serve as advisors and to support farm labour.
Spread the word
